Digital Defense, Inc. Names New Head of Research and Development

San Antonio, TX – May 21, 2014 – Digital Defense, Inc. today announced that it has elevated Chief Security Architect, Mike Cotton, to a new role as Vice President of Research and Development.

“Mike has shown himself to be not only an important asset to Digital Defense, but also to the industry as a whole,” says Digital Defense, CEO Larry Hurtado. “His work with Digital Defense, has already helped create a more secure digital environment for enterprises and organizations around the world.”

Since joining Digital Defense, in 2003, Cotton has played a vital role in developing Digital Defense’s security assessment platform auditing millions of systems a month. Cotton continues to lead Digital Defense’s Vulnerability Research Team responsible for mining data to gather decisive intelligence and identifying zero-day issues, working to improve the security posture of organizations of all sizes and sectors. Cotton is recognized in industry circles for his expertise regarding a wide range of digital security issues, and recently presented at RSA 2014 revealing how security flaws common in many large data center network systems could disrupt operations at many organizations.

In addition to continuing his role in leading the vulnerability research team, Cotton will now also spearhead the development and engineering of the company’s proprietary vulnerability management platform, Frontline Solutions Platform™.
