Digital Defense Hosts San Antonio Def Con "Capture The Flag" Sessions

By Digital Defense Inc.
San Antonio, TX – June 14, 2011 – Digital Defense, Inc., a leading provider of information security governance, risk management, and compliance (GRC) solutions, today announced that it recently hosted local San Antonio DEF CON “Capture the Flag” (CTF) sessions. DEF CON, one of the oldest and largest hacker conventions, holds a CTF Qualifier contest each year prior to their annual gathering held in August in Las Vegas. These team-based contests provide security professionals and vulnerability researchers around the globe an opportunity to compete against each other by answering a rigorous and broad ranging set of information security-related technical questions. Each team obtains points for correctly answered questions and the top teams have their total score posted on a tally board for other teams to see. Historically, the top ten teams have then competed against each other during the DEF CON convention for prizes and bragging rights. This year, the official event organizers have increased the number of selected teams to 12, with the inclusion of the best teams from other similar worldwide events. “Digital Defense is proud to have once again hosted San Antonio DEF CON CTF Qualifier sessions,” said Larry R. Hurtado, president & CEO of Digital Defense. “We’ve sponsored these local sessions for over four years and continue to see growth not only in the number of attendees, but in the number of cities from within Texas these individuals are participating. As in years past, we have not only hosted members of the Digital Defense security operations and vulnerability research teams, but staff from other information security companies, security professionals from major San Antonio employers, students studying for degrees in information assurance at local universities, and participants from as far away as the Dallas - Fort Worth Metroplex. We at Digital Defense see these annual sessions providing a valuable and positive benefit to the local information security community and aiding in the City of San Antonio’s efforts in becoming Cyber City USA.” Digital Defense has a broad array of information security solutions available to help thwart IT threats for organizations of all types and sizes. To deliver the company’s information security services to virtually every regulated industry, Digital Defense employs security analysts, software developers and testers, as well as vulnerability researchers.
