San Antonio, Texas – May 28, 2014 – Digital Defense, Inc. Security Analyst Sam Shapiro took home top honors from the “Hackenger Hunt” competition held at the recent BSides SATX 2014 conference in San Antonio. The annual information security event provides a venue for information security professionals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration.
The San Antonio event was held on May 10 and featured a competition called the “Hackenger Hunt.” The capture the flag-type event charged participants with finding virtual flags hidden throughout the closed network environment using approaches ranging from basic “ping sweeps” to more complex methods. With three different challenge levels available for participants depending on ability, Shapiro finished atop the final standings in Ring 2, the highest and most challenging level.
